Common questions

It says I need a jacket and it's warm out.

The answer looks at the next six hours, not just this minute. If it drops below your cutoff later, or rain is likely while it's cool, you get a YES now. The line under the verdict tells you which of those it was — for example "Drops to 52° by 6pm".

The cutoff is wrong for me. I run hot.

Tap the gear and move the single slider. It shifts the threshold up to 8°F in either direction, and the summary underneath shows exactly where it landed. The answer updates immediately — no refetch, no reopening.

It won't get my location.

The app needs "While Using the App" location access. Check Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Jacket?. If it was denied at first launch, the app shows a screen with a button that takes you straight there.

There's a "as of 2:14pm" stamp with a crossed-out wifi symbol.

That means the fetch failed and you're seeing the last reading instead of a fresh one, with the time it was taken. Pull down to refresh once you have signal.

Does it work without a signal?

Yes, if it has a reading to fall back on — it shows that one, marked. With no signal and no cached reading at all, it shows an error screen with a Try Again button.

Where does the weather come from?

Open‑Meteo. No account and no API key is involved, and nothing about you is sent beyond the coordinates needed to answer the query. See the privacy policy.

Does it track me / show ads / sell anything?

No, no, and no. There are no third-party SDKs in the app at all. It cost a dollar once, and that is the entire business model.

Is there an Android version?

Not at the moment.
